Day 1 - Emergency First Aid

How to approach and assess an unconscious person

How to perform a log roll for a casualty who needs to vomit and is suffering from a suspected spinal
The understanding of the back and spine
Eye injuries
How to help someone who is suffering from a minor and major eye injury
How to wash out a minor object from the eye using sterile eye wash
Chest injuries
How to identify a penetrating chest wound and what to do
How to identify and help someone who is suffering from broken ribs
Crush injuries
What to do if someone has been crushed
Broken bones & Dislocations
What to do if someone has broken something
How to immobilise a broken boke for safe transport to hospital

Day 3 - Illnesses
Heart attack
How to identify if someone is having a heart attack and what to do to help them
Angina
How to identify the difference between Heart Attack and Angina and how to help
Stroke
How to test someone who you think is having a stroke and how to help
Asthma
How to help someone who is having an asthma attack
Anaphylaxis
How to identify if someone is suffering from a severe allergic reaction
How to deliver an Auto injector for someone who is suffering from a severe allergic reaction
Diabetes
How to identify if someone is suffering from Hypoglycaemia and how to help restore blood sugar levels
Poisoning
Identify how poisons enter the body
How to help someone who you believe has been poisoned
At the end of the course, participants are assessed through a combination of practical assessments and written exams in the form of a multiple choice question paper. Successfully completing the course results in a certification valid for three years.
